County Field Day 2022

There was fierce competition throughout the day at the County Field Day held at the Carmarthen Mart & the Showground, Nantyci on Saturday 2nd of April 2022.

Nia Thomas, St Ishmaels YFC won the title of Senior Stockman of the Year with Elin Ludgate, Llanfynydd YFC second, and joint third for Angharad Thomas, Vale of Towy YFC & Sion Roberts, Llangadog YFC. In the Junior Stockman of the Year, Lewis Gibbin, Whitland YFC, won the competition with Iwan Rhys Thomas, St Ishmaels YFC second, Elan Thomas, Penybont YFC third and Carys Morgans, Llanfynydd YFC fourth. The eight will go on to represent Carmarthenshire at Wales level and good luck to them.

Llanfynydd YFC boys; Rhydian Davies, Rhys Jones and Sion Davies won first prize in the Senior Fencing competition with Penybont YFC scooping the first prize in the Junior Fence Competition. Well done to Gilbert Roberts, Gwion Jones-Howells & Carwyn Thomas. Good luck to both teams at Wales level.

Rhydian Davies, Llanfynydd YFC won tasg 1; Ieuan Harries, Llannon YFC won task 2; Aled Jones, Llanllwni YFC won task 3 and Katia Rose, Llannon YFC won task 4 in the Farm Machinery Skills competition. Good luck to the four at Wales level.

Congratulations to Harri Williams & Lloyd Thomas of Dyffryn Cothi YFC who won the Junior Fferm Ffactor competition. Iestyn Owen, Capel-Arthne YFC won the Auctioneering competition. In the Cube Exhibition competition, Llanllwni YFC came out on top. Good luck to these members as they represent the County at Wales level.

In the Clay Shooting Competition, Hywel Jones, Dyffryn Cothi YFC won the Under 17’s section, Martha Sauro, Llanelli YFC came first in the Under 28s section for Females and Rhys Meirion Evans, St Clears YFC scooped first prize in the Under 28s Male section. These members will represent Carmarthenshire at a National level and wish them well.

Thanks also to Gwili Jones, Dalton’s ATVs, T Alun Jones and to Wynnstay for allowing us to borrow their machinery, trailers, and Gates for the Farm machinery competition. A huge thank you to all judges for their work throughout the whole day.
